Birthday Girl Christina Aguilera in the B101.7 Flashback Friday Spotlight

We're celebrating a birthday for this B101.7 Flashback Friday Spotlight, as we say Happy Birthday Christina Aguilera!

Let's flashback to the her breakthrough album released during the summer of 1999, the self titled debut named Christina. It made such a splash in the music scene earning X-tina the Best New Artist Grammy Award.

16 years ago on December 18, 1999, X-tina celebrated that birthday with the release of her second single off her debut album. The song also happens to be the second track on the album I'm talking about 'What A Girl Wants.' The vocal power on display drew comparisons to Mariah Carey.

The song shares praise of guy who knows how to treat a lady and stand by her.

'What A Girl Wants' became Christina's second consecutive song to hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, following 'Genie In A Bottle.'

The music video also held the #1 spot on MTV's TRL. See it below as Christina plays a medieval-style princess.
