It’s been a long road getting to the screen, but TNT’s The Alienist has finally descended. The Cary Fukunaga-produced murder-mystery adapted from Caleb Carr’s international bestseller has arrived, touting a star-studded cast.

Taking place in 1896, the new series is set “amidst the vast wealth, extreme poverty and technological innovation of New York during the Gilded Age,” and follows the hunt for a serial killer who murders boy prostitutes. Captain America: Civil War star Daniel Brühl leads, along with Beauty and the Beast star Luke Evans and Dakota Fanning.

Also starring in the new series are Douglas Smith, Matthew Shear, Matt Lintz, Robert Wisdom and Q’orianka Kilcher. Black Mirror director Jakob Verbruggen serves behind the camera, with Fukunaga, Eric Roth, Hossein Amini, E. Max Frye and Anonymous Content serving as executive producers.

The series is currently shooting in Hungary and lacks an official premiere date, but stay tuned for the latest from TNT in the meantime.
