It was January 2001 when a group of music ladies gathered in the studio to put their take on a Disco song from the 70s for a movie soundtrack, and would go #1 and win a Grammy Award!

This B101.7 Flashback Friday Spotlight is on the remake release of 'Lady Marmalade,' 15 years ago. Originally a hit for Labelle in 1974, Missy Elliot stepped to put a fresh spin on the song, joined by Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim, and P!nk!

The remake was for the movie soundtrack for Moulin Rouge. The lyrics of the cover mirror the original, expect for one detail, instead of singing about New Orleans, it was change to Paris to match the movie.

The 2001 version of 'Lady Marmalade' became a huge success reaching #1 on the chart and winning a Grammy Award for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals.
