The 9th Annual Lake Tuscaloosa Cleanup is this Saturday.  This free community event is Saturday from 8am-1pm.  It's being held in the fall this year with a another event scheduled for the spring.  Lake Tuscaloosa water levels are a bit lower this time of year and in the spring, which makes it easier to access the lakes’ shorelines and sloughs.

This free community event is open to Lake Tuscaloosa home owners, environmental groups, boat captains, and the general public who are passionate about keeping Lake Tuscaloosa (our local drinking water source) clean and litter-free.

Citizens with boats are needed and requested to participate. Volunteers will ride in boats to locations around Lake Tuscaloosa and collect litter and trash from the water and shoreline. Litter bags, gloves, and safety vests will be provided by the City of Tuscaloosa. Refreshments and lunch will be provided.

Volunteers will be able to pre-register by filling out the volunteer registration form on the Facebook event page or register the day of the event at the Binion Creek Boat Landing (Highway 43) or the Rock Quarry Boat Landing (New Watermelon Rd).
