This B101.7 Flashback Friday spotlight is on the 1999 seasonal anthem from LFO, 'Summer Girls.' A quirky and clever song with a snapshot on pop culture.

The rap lyrics of 'Summer Girls' shares such insight as "Billy Shakespeare wrote a bunch of sonnets." You know what, he did. Did you know the great Boston Celtics player from the 80s named Larry Bird wore #33? LFO points this out and by golly it is true my friend! Or, did you know Michael J. Fox was Alex P. Keaton? He sure was, on a classic 80s show called Family Ties. Did you know Mcaulay Culkin wasn't home alone? He wasn't.

LFO lets us know they are a fan of Kevin Bacon, but not the 80s movie he starred in called 'Footlose.' You may disagree with that sentiment. But, you have to admit that's it's fly when girls stop by for the summer, for the summer.

I applaud the clever and fun lyrics to make us get nostalgic thinking of summer's gone by, as we welcome a new one.
