The family of 15-year-old Jordan Edwards received a surprise in the mail this week when a care package showed up from Alabama head coach Nick Saban.

Edwards, a bright and talented young man, was a big fan of the Crimson Tide before he was shot and killed by a police officer in late April. Saban either knew about his interest or found out from someone and sent a package that included a customized Alabama jersey for Edwards that included the coach's signature.

Edwards would have been a sophomore at Mesquite High School on the outskirts of Dallas, Texas. He played quarterback and wide receiver and planned to try his hand on the defensive side of the ball next season.

His head coach shared this emotional message on Twitter after the shooting.

The police officer involved was fired by the Balch Springs Police Department and later arrested and charged with muder.
