A warm and sunny first weekend in June welcomes the annual Mule Day and Chickenfest in Gordo, Alabama. The Saturday morning events started with the annual Mule Kick 5K race through the downtown streets!

It was truly a change of pace for me to be a spectator, rather than a participant at a local race. I found it interesting to be at the finish line cheering on many of the people I normally compete against at area races. This spectator role gave me the opportunity to bring out the station's fancy camera and snap lots of photos!

This Mule Kick 5K gallery captures each of the runners approaching the finish line. A couple of different views, from a distance and up close. Plus, few extra sights surrounding the event are added in for good measure. You may find it hard to believe among the sights catching my was the food table, and more specifically the coffee cake! Mmm. Oh, I had to get a couple of photos featuring the really unique horseshoes presented to the top finishers in the various age categories. Nice touch!

Here you go, the gallery! Enjoy!
