Whataburger still hasn't officially opened its first location in Tuscaloosa but a second one is already on the way.

A new sign posted along McFarland Blvd in front of the Lofts at City Center says another restaurant is coming soon to one of the busiest intersections in the city. The location is directly across the street from the Fresh Market and the plan is to open sometime this summer.

“Whataburger is excited to bring more flavor to Crimson Tide fans with the opening of our second restaurant open 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” said Whataburger Director of Operations John Attra. “We’re a proud sponsor of Alabama athletics and look forward to serving familiar faces, along with new friends and neighbors for breakfast, lunch and dinner.”

There are currently 14 locations in the state of Alabama but the closest to Tuscaloosa is in Birmingham. The popular burger franchise will change that when the area's first Whataburger opens at the corner of Skyland Blvd and Hwy 69S. That spot broke ground in late 2017 and should be open sometime in early 2018.

The second location will also be hiring up to 100 people for the second location and you can website to see the open positions.

Whataburger began in Texas nearly 70 years ago and has expanded across the country to open more than 800 different franchises. It often ranks up there with some of the most popular chains like In-N-Out, Steak 'n Shake, Shake Shack, and local favorite Milo's when debating best burger.
