Severe storms are likely in our area as a cold front makes its way across the state Thursday. The National Weather Service in Birmingham has placed most of the state in an elevated risk area Thursday; severe storms capable of producing a tornado, quarter size hail, and damaging winds of up to 60 MPH are possible.

This storm system is also expected to bring a significant amount of rain to our area. Some cities could see up to 2 inches of rain Thursday and Thursday evening, which could create flash flooding issues.

Storms are currently forecast to impact Alabama between 12 noon  and 8 p.m. Thursday.
