Sister Hazel is no stranger to Tuscalooosa, as they plan on a free show and make our B101.7 Flashback Friday spotlight with 1997's 'All For You.

Ken Block the front-man and founding member of Sister Hazel wrote the song before the band was even created. At the time of writing the song, he was in a hard rock band, and performing solo acoustic material on the side. He was asked to enter the song into a competition to be featured on a compilation CD. And... it was picked!

Released in 1997 by Sister Hazel, the song would peak just outside of the Top 10 and prove to have the lasting power a great song enjoys!

It's also interesting to note, the band's name was inspired Sister Hazel Williams who ran a homeless shelter in their hometown of Gainesville, Florida. Ken Block quoted by Songfacts as saying:

She's worked with the needy and the homeless in our county since I was a little boy. And I always thought that was very cool, that spirit of unconditional regard for people. She happens to be an old female black minister, but she doesn't care what religion, what race, what orientation… if you're a prostitute or a drug addict or anything, she'll give you a safe, warm place to dust off, regroup, and get back on your feet.

Come see Sister Hazel a Tuscaloosa River Market, as they perform a free show at the Yellowhammer Festival Sunday night (April 2nd) at 7 p.m.

For now, let's jam with the music video to this great song from the 90s!
