The National Weather Service in Birmingham has high confidence that severe storms and strong tornadoes are possible throughout the state this afternoon and evening.

Storms are likely in West Alabama as early as 2 p.m. this afternoon, and storms could continue through the evening hours as they make their way across the state. The majority of our listening area has been placed in an enhanced risk area today where strong tornadoes are possible as well as tennis ball size hail and damaging winds of 70 miles per hour.

We'll continue to monitor the forecast, and if a tornado warning is issued in our area, we'll have live coverage from our own Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Meteorologist Bobby Best.
