We've known for some time now that 'The Colbert Report' would say goodbye as Stephen moves on to bigger and better things at CBS' 'Late Show,' but we at last have a departure point. Comedy Central has officially scheduled the last 'Colbert Report' for mid December, but when can we run screaming at the gates to say goodbye?

Well, no major changing of the guard here, as actor Jim Parsons tonight takes home the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series award at the 2014 Emmy Awards for his role as brilliant 'Big Bang Theory' egghead Sheldon Cooper.

Among the last, but certainly not least, the eye network CBS has officially gotten in on the Upfront 2014 game by releasing their schedule for the fall, and full trailers for the newest series. Few major surprises (minus that 'How I Met Your Dad' pass), but take a look at the future of CBS with new trailers for Halle Berry's 'Extant,' sporting family sitcom 'The McCarthys' and more!

Whereas CBS' decision to not move forward with 'HIMYM' spinoff 'How I Met Your Dad' proved pretty surprising, the fate of 'Two and a Half Men' was long overdue. The Ashton Kutcher comedy will indeed return for season 12 this fall, though the network finally confirmed that one of Chuck Lorre's flagship vehicles will come to a merciful end with a series finale thereafter.

Well, this is something of a surprise. Uncertain though we were at the prospect of 'How I Met Your Mother' living in on in the gender-flipped sequel series 'How I Met Your Dad,' it seems CBS has defied expectation to opt against picking up the series at least for now. So what went wrong that Greta Gerwig won't regale us for the next nine years with tales of 'How I Met Your Dad?'

Well, this shouldn't come as much of a surprise to anyone. Despite the bad taste left in viewers' mouths by the 'How I Met Your Mother' series finale "Last Forever," spinoff series 'How I Met Your Dad' is almost guaranteed to carry on the torch this fall with a series order at CBS. Who's ready to have Greta Gerwig drag things out for another nine years?

The late-night landscape remains in upheaval, first by David Letterman's decision to retire from the 'Late Show,' followed by Stephen Colbert's ascension to the throne, and finally heir apparent Craig Ferguson's decision to leave the 'Late Late Show.' Controversy has proven to a minimum, but Letterman still stepped up to speak out on Ferguson's departure, while CBS may not yet court a replacement

The once and future Sally of the 'How I Met Your Mother' spinoff, 'How I Met Your Dad,' has at last been found. Where 'Full House' sitcom icon Bob Saget curiously provided the narrating voice of 'HIMYM''s future Ted, Meg Ryan has been selected to provide the voice of future Sally, as portrayed in the storyline's present by indie darling Greta Gerwig.

Last night saw future 'Late Show' host Stephen Colbert dropping by David Letterman's standing regime to preview a bit of his impending takeover, dropping the 'Colbert Report' character for the genuine article. Much as 2014 shook the late night landscape with Jimmy Fallon's ascension to the 'Tonight Show' throne, 2015 will similarly upend the 'Late Show' as 'Colbert Report' host Stephen Colbert takes over for the retiring David Letterman. Colbert himself stopped by Letterman's couch today to talk about the transition, the first footage of which has made its way online!
