Independence Day is one of my favorite holidays for several reasons; food, fireworks and family. But for me, the day is about reflecting on the miracle of America's birth and those who fought against tyranny.
It's also a moment to remember that many soldiers and their families are celebrating their country's birth apart from each other...
We're all entitled to our own opinions, but food is arguably the best part of any holiday. See, eating our way through this sort of celebration is an automatic win-win-- we're happy, our stomach's are happy, everyone's happy.
Maybe you live someplace where fireworks are illegal. Maybe secretly every time you hear some go off you are momentarily terrified that somebody on a neighboring block has just been shot to death. Maybe both (Brooklyn, rep!).
America will soon be celebrating its independence again and you'll be looking for the best way to show off the red, white, and blue. If you decide against going to the Celebration on the River, there's no better holiday for having people over and enjoying the most Patriotic day of the year...
