Conditions continue to worsen across the state as a winter storm impacts Alabama today and into the evening hours. The National Weather Service in Birmingham has now added several new counties into the existing Winter Storm Warning.
The chances of seeing snow in West Alabama are looking much higher, as the National Weather Service in Birmingham has already issued a Winter Storm Watch in effect from Friday (January 6) morning through Saturday (January 9) morning.
Tuscaloosa residents woke up this morning to light rainfall, but the bad news: that meager amount of rain wasn't enough to break our current record-setting dry streak. Tuscaloosa has now gone 47 days without measurable rainfall, and the County is now under extreme drought conditions.
