The City Council of Tuscaloosa approved a resolution this week to lift the temporary status of the downtown entertainment district and make it permanent beginning today.

The entertainment district allows patrons to carry alcohol outside of restaurants and bars in approved containers within the boundaries. At this point, it'll be in effect Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 9:30 p.m. During those approved hours, you're free to walk around with one drink in the approved container but you have to dispose of it upon leaving the entertainment district.

The map below provided by the city of Tuscaloosa shows exactly where you can carry the open container and it covers much of the downtown area and River Walk.
