The results of the 2016 Apples for Education competition have been released, with funds going to support local schools through the Tuscaloosa Backpack Coalition.

A friendly challenge between a pair of local Chick-fil-A locations, Northport on McFarland Boulevard and Tuscaloosa South on Skyland Boulevard. In what is in many ways a Tuscaloosa City Schools vs. County Schools spirit challenge!

All this past week $1 donations were being collected for each apple. On the apple, a special place reserved to include a name, as it was posted in the restaurant. Feel good about those donations, as ALL of the money stays here to support local students with supplies for a successful school year, as distribute by the Tuscaloosa Backpack Coalition.

Will Chick-fil-A Tuscaloosa South win the competition for a second year? Let's get to the results!

  • Chick-fil-A Tuscaloosa South sold 839 apples or $839.
  • Chick-fil-A Northport sold 381 apples or $381.

Congrats to the team at CFA Tuscaloosa South! You've earned the bragging rights with your hard work! A special thank you to both teams in the competition, and all of the supporters buying apples. Together, we're making difference!

Here are a few photos Gabby Satterberg sent me from the challenge at her Chick-fil-A Tuscaloosa South store.

You can still support local students with the Salvation Army and the Tuscaloosa Backpack Coalition who are set up in the center court of University Mall. Stop by and make your Apples for Education donation with money or supplies.
