This B101.7 Flashback Friday puts the spotlight on the very first single released by Jennifer Lopez.

Way before being a celebrity judge on American Idol, Jennifer Lopez got her first break a "Fly Girl" or dancer on the comedy sketch show, In Living Color.

The next significant break came in 1997 when she starred in the movie Selena. The movie really made her connect with her Latin roots, as she put together a demo in Spanish. Tommy Matola the big name music executive who helped launch Mariah Carey's was interested in Jennifer, but suggested she sing the songs in English.

It was May 1999 when Jennifer Lopez released 'If You Had My Love,' serving as the first single off the debut album, On The 6. The song's popularity drove it to the top of the pop chart! Jennifer's star power rapidly rose as known dancer, actress and add to it, a singer.

Songfacts shares, "at the time, the Internet was relatively new and streaming video was in its infancy. As the public discovered the voyeuristic nature of The Net through webcams, the video for this song capitalized on the trend by showing a man looking up "Jennifer Lopez" online and being transported to a world where he can watch her in action by clicking various links."

Here's the music video for 'If You Had My Love' by Jennifer Lopez for this B101.7 Flashback Friday!
